IV. SPEAKING – Great role models for lifelong learning
Bài 1: Work in pairs
Đề: A đọc thẻ thông tin về Bác Hồ, B đọc thẻ thông tin về Marie Curie.
Đây là hoạt động đọc – chuẩn bị thông tin, không có đáp án cố định. Dưới đây mình dịch nội dung 2 thẻ để các em hiểu.
Thẻ A – Bác Hồ là người học suốt đời:
- Managed to learn every day throughout his life → Học mỗi ngày suốt cuộc đời (ví dụ: đọc và viết đến nửa đêm sau một ngày làm việc).
- Learnt to speak French, English, Chinese, Italian, German, and Russian → Học nói được 6 thứ tiếng (chủ yếu tự học, có cách học từ mới hiệu quả: viết từ ra giấy hoặc lên cánh tay rồi ôn lại cả ngày).
- Kept fit and healthy → Giữ sức khỏe (tập thể dục mỗi ngày, tập võ cổ truyền, tham gia hoạt động thể chất).
Thẻ B – Marie Curie là người học suốt đời:
- Managed to go to university → Cố gắng vào được đại học (vì ở Ba Lan thời đó phụ nữ không được học đại học, bà chuyển sang Pháp học Lý và Toán ở Đại học Sorbonne).
- Spent a lot of time studying → Dành nhiều thời gian học (tự học khi làm gia sư, mượn sách thư viện, đăng ký nhiều khóa học khác nhau).
- Won prizes → Giành nhiều giải thưởng (là người phụ nữ đầu tiên đoạt giải Nobel, người duy nhất đoạt Nobel 2 lần: Vật lý 1903 và Hóa học 1911).
Từ khó:

Bài 2 & 3: A nói về Bác Hồ / B nói về Marie Curie, người còn lại điền ghi chú
Đây là bài luyện nói và ghi chép, dựa vào thông tin ở Bài 1. Mình cho mẫu hoàn chỉnh để các em tham khảo.
Mẫu nói về Bác Hồ (Bài 2):
Uncle Ho is a great role model for lifelong learning. He managed to learn every day throughout his life. He often learnt by reading and writing until midnight after a working day. He could speak six languages: French, English, Chinese, Italian, German, and Russian, mainly through self-study. He had an effective way to learn new words by writing them on pieces of paper or his arms and revising them throughout the day. He also kept fit and healthy by doing exercise every day, practising traditional martial arts, and enjoying physical activities.
Mẫu nói về Marie Curie (Bài 3):
Marie Curie is a great role model for lifelong learning. She managed to go to university because in her country, Poland, women were not allowed to study at university. So Marie moved to France and studied physics and maths at Sorbonne University. She spent a lot of time studying on her own while working as a governess, borrowing books from the library and registering for many different courses. She won prizes too: she was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, and the only woman to win it twice, in Physics in 1903 and in Chemistry in 1911.
Bài 4: Present your talk to the class
Đề: Dùng ghi chú để nói về Bác Hồ hoặc Marie Curie như tấm gương học suốt đời. Em học được gì từ họ?
Gợi ý câu kết luận (phần "What can you learn from them"):
From Uncle Ho / Marie Curie, I have learnt that learning never stops. No matter how busy or difficult life is, we should keep learning every day. Their determination and passion for knowledge inspire me to study hard and never give up on my dreams.
V. LISTENING – Challenges of lifelong learning
Bài 1: Choose the correct meanings of the underlined words
1. Her job was difficult, but she didn't give up and showed great determination to succeed.
- A. the desire to do something challenging without any support
- B. the ability to continue trying to do something even when it is difficult
→ Đáp án: B. "Determination" nghĩa là sự quyết tâm, kiên trì làm điều gì đó dù khó khăn. Câu nói "không bỏ cuộc" (didn't give up) khớp với B.
2. My mother managed to go to university despite many obstacles.
- A. difficult situations
- B. supporting conditions
→ Đáp án: A. "Obstacles" = trở ngại, tình huống khó khăn. Có từ "despite" (mặc dù) cho thấy đây là điều cản trở.
3. There were too many distractions at home, so I started going to the library to study.
- A. things that you pay close attention to
- B. things that stop you from paying attention to what you are doing
→ Đáp án: B. "Distractions" = những thứ gây xao nhãng. Vì bị xao nhãng nên bạn ấy phải ra thư viện học.
4. We tried to apply the knowledge we acquired from the course into practice.
- A. gained
- B. discussed
→ Đáp án: A. "Acquired" = thu được, có được (kiến thức) → đồng nghĩa với "gained".
5. We need to work together in order to solve complex problems.
- A. difficult to deal with
- B. easy to deal with
→ Đáp án: A. "Complex" = phức tạp, khó giải quyết.
Bài 2: Listen and put the main ideas in order
Đề: Nghe bài nói về học suốt đời, sắp xếp các ý chính theo thứ tự nghe được.
Các ý:
- a. You need money, time, and space to continue your pursuit of knowledge and skills.
- b. You need to have a strong motivation and determination to become a lifelong learner.
- c. Lifelong learning is effective only when you put what you've learnt into practice.

Giải thích: Bài nói thường mở đầu bằng động lực và quyết tâm (b), rồi đến điều kiện về tiền bạc – thời gian – không gian (a), cuối cùng nhấn mạnh phải áp dụng vào thực tế (c). (Cần file nghe track 78 để xác nhận chính xác.)
Bài 3: Listen again and complete the sentences (no more than THREE words)
Đề và đáp án gợi ý:
1. Lifelong learners are motivated to expand their knowledge and develop new skills.
→ Người học suốt đời có động lực mở rộng kiến thức.
2. To become a lifelong learner, you need to be determined to succeed / keep learning.
→ Cần quyết tâm để thành công / tiếp tục học.
3. Reading books and attending courses / taking courses are not enough for effective lifelong learning.
→ Đọc sách và tham gia khóa học thôi chưa đủ.
4. You must be able to use the new knowledge and skills to find a solution to a problem or create something new.
→ Phải dùng được kiến thức để giải quyết vấn đề.
5. Not having enough money, time, or space should not prevent you from continuing learning and becoming a lifelong learner person.
→ Thiếu tiền, thời gian, không gian không nên ngăn cản bạn trở thành người học suốt đời.
Lưu ý: các chỗ điền (đặc biệt 2, 3) phụ thuộc vào nội dung file nghe track 79, em nên nghe lại để chốt chính xác từ.
Bài 4: Work in groups – Discuss
Đề: How do you think we can overcome these challenges and become lifelong learners? (Làm sao vượt qua thách thức để trở thành người học suốt đời?)
Gợi ý trả lời:
I think we can overcome these challenges by managing our time wisely and setting clear learning goals. We don't always need a lot of money — there are many free online courses and library books available. Most importantly, we should stay motivated and turn what we learn into real actions in our daily life.
Tóm lại, trang này gồm phần Speaking (so sánh Bác Hồ và Marie Curie qua information gap) và phần Listening về thách thức của việc học suốt đời. Các đáp án trắc nghiệm ở Bài 1 (Listening) chắc chắn; còn Bài 2 và 3 cần nghe file track 78–79 để xác nhận chính xác từ điền nha.
